Café spots for cozy winter days

The cold and dark season brings back the coziness to the city. The hustle and bustle of summer turns into relaxation and enjoyment in winter. And what’s cozier than sipping a warm coffee at your favorite spot when the December chill sets in outside? We took a look around and tested the city’s café spots for their relaxation factor.

Long walks

Long walks in the untouched nature of the Middle Elbe Biosphere Reserve and in the parks of the Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Kingdom have their special charm at any time of the year. In winter, the landscapes transform into an inviting wonderland.

Our tip: a walk through the Georgengarten. Along the way, there are places to stop for refreshments to warm body and soul.

More culture

After a long walk in wintry temperatures, a visit to the Dessau museums or one of the city’s theaters is tempting. Here you can end your day comfortably and enjoy a varied offer.

Enjoy regional cuisine

Anhalt cuisine is known to be much more than sausage with rice pudding – especially at Christmas time. Those who still want to try the dish can find it on the menu at the Brauhaus, among other places.

In Johannisstraße, on the other hand, gourmets can embark on an extravagant culinary journey with regional products at the restaurant “Tobi ornot ToBe” and let Tobi spoil them. His current home menu “Ach du GRÜNE Neune … Victor Urban und der Gefangene in Anhalt by Tobias Felger” reads like an experimental gastronomic treat:
Urban Tobillas Dessau Vibe – Fine Cream Fishfilet – Char I Barley I Black Pudding I Apple I Kapu – Semi-Frozen (non-vegetarian) from Hemp Oil I Lard Homemade I Marzipan I Licorice I Mite Cheese I Testosterone C12-GLOBULI.

Many regional producers such as Käse Pfendt, Elbkäserei Vockerode, Fischereihof Thießen, Spargelhof Hedicke in Wulfen, Wouter Uwland Wettin, urban farm Dessau, DIE VOLLWERTKOCHSCHULE MIT ÖLMÜHLE Beatrix Frühauf ( winner of the Founder’s Prize 2022 of the City of Dessau-Roßlau ), Orangen Bitter (Oranienbaum), derlakritzladen-halle.de supply products of the menu.

If you want to feast in the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the restaurant and café Am Georgengarten or the Kornhaus, which was built in 1929/30 by Bauhaus architect Carl Fieger and is located directly on the Elbe, is just the right place.
