The Dessau Juniors Cup, traditionally held at the end of January each year, has made a name for itself nationwide and internationally as one of the best U11 indoor soccer tournaments in Germany – as the U11 coaches of the Bundesliga teams repeatedly say.

For the 29th edition of the tournament, a lot of top class from Europe and Germany is expected again in the Bauhaus city.

“Not only the quality and the good organization of the Dessau Juniors Cup (previously Allianz Cup), but also the venue with the Anhalt Arena are an enormous asset that speaks for the tournament.

The sports director of Anhalt Sport e.V. saw a lot of movement around the traditional tournament in the last three years: “In the past years, many things were different. Nothing was normal. We were forced to rethink and have successfully moved the Dessau Junior Cup outside twice.”

The tournament was also a complete success in the Paul Grifzu Stadium on the lush green in Dessau’s soccer temple. “But now I am again very happy that we will be able to hold the 29th edition again in our Anhalt Arena in January 2023. This modern arena with its traditional round arch always ensures astonished young kickers,” said Hirsch.

Everybody from Dessau knows the charm of the Anhalt Arena and the great atmosphere that arises there every time. All the young footballers will enjoy it. An U11 tournament in such a large arena is certainly something special, spectacular and wonderful.

The big names will be there again: FC Bayern, Borussia Dortmund, Schalke 04, Hertha BSC, Dynamo Dresden and many more. From Europe, Austria Vienna and Feyenoord Rotterdam will travel to the Elbe this time.

“Once again, it speaks for the tournament and its quality that FC Bayern has accepted without much hesitation,” says tournament director Ralph Hirsch. A total of 20 teams are expected to compete in the preliminary rounds at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and the final rounds at 8 a.m. on Sunday.

“We are very happy that with the help of everyone involved – including the city’s sports department, the KFV Anhalt and our co-organizing clubs – a new chapter in the success story of the Dessau Juniors Cup is being written for this great tournament. We wish a lot of fun and good entertainment”, Hirsch sums up.
