Goodbye to Fritz and Franz
Goodbye to Fritz and Franz
Things are turbulent in the enclosure of the Ussuri ruffed bears. Dmitry, the bear’s father, climbed out of his high bed for the first time a few weeks ago to take his first dreamy walk in the spring sunshine. Now the other three members of the bear family are doing the same. Diligent observers of the live webcam have already been able to follow the occasional squabbles between the not-so-little cubs and their mum.
Parallel to the bears’ spring awakening, preparations for the transport of the cubs are in full swing. “Of course, the farewell will be very emotional for the whole team,” reveals Jan Bauer. “We’ve all grown so fond of them. On the other hand, we are proud of the breeding success and naturally want to continue it. I would also like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to the animal keepers.”
